The Sibu Water Board regrets to inform the public of an unexpected water interruption affecting the Tanjung Manis Water Supply Operation.

Cause of Interruption:

The interruption is due to the high turbidity in the raw water at the Tanjung Manis Raw Water Reservoir, resulting from the previous soil erosion incident at Katibas. Unfortunately, this turbidity rendered the raw water untreatable by the treatment plant.

Duration of Interruption:

The interruption has affected the supply of treated water from the Tanjung Manis Water Treatment Plant to the Sekumang Treated Water Booster Station since March 13, 2024, and continues until the issuance of this press statement.

Actions Taken:

To address the issue, the Sibu Water Board has taken the following measures: Opening all washouts at the 1100mm raw water pipeline. Flushing the Raw Water Reservoir. Routinely monitoring and checking raw water turbidity.
